One question that gets asked quite a bit, since the recent changes to the CSM army list, is why the list doesn't officially include daemon units that are available in the Warmaster range. Since they have Daemonettes on Riding Beasts, Screamers and even Horrors why not just use those figs instead of removing the units from the official army list?
There are several reasons but primary for me, at least, is the difference in scale. Warmaster is a 10mm game and Epic is a 6mm game. As such the daemons produced for Warmaster are much larger than the Epic Chaos figures.
Audrey kindly took some photographs to show the difference.
First some Warmaster daemonettes next to some Epic CSM troops
The daemonettes are close to twice the size of the CSM troops.
The comparison is even worse when you look at the mounted daemonettes
The mounted daemonettes are giants compared to the Epic figures.
Now if this isn't an issue for you as a player then you can certainly go get the Warmaster figures and use them in your games. The stats for them will be included in an appendix in the next version (3.3.1) of the CSM army list. But I don't think it is fair to a) make players buy figures outside of the Epic product line to get core troops and b) certainly don't want to return to the Space Marine days when the game had daemonic units that were grossly out of scale to everything else in the game.
