Never take an army of poorly armoured Warriors against Wolfen with average strengths of about 10 :-)
We had a Confrontation game last night and Zach's Wolfen chewed through my new Kelt army like it was soggy breakfast cereal. My only consolation was that the tactical moves and strategies I tried last night all seemed to work but it wasn't enough to save me from Str 12 Wolfen and Zach's infuriating ability to roll double sixes.
So after the battle I looked through my units and saw some of the changes I could make to the army to help capitalize on its strengths.

Busy, busy, busy.
Well that was an interesting two weeks.
The news site I am running was, at one time, hosted on Typepad. I was very happy there and everything was good. Then Typepad moved to a new data centre and started caching all RSS/RDF newsfeeds during peak traffic hours. That meant that people often didn't see updates to my feed for four or even five hours after I posted news.
Rather defeating the point of a newsfeed if you ask me.
So after a month of them failing to admit that this was the case, not having tech support staff who could even understand what were basic questions about news feed, and being, in general, bureaucratic, evasive shits I decided to move.
So after downloading a copy of Wordpress and registering a new domain I moved all the posts from the Typepad server and opened up shop in a new space.
Given how simple this was to do it makes you wonder why Typepad were such f*cks? I can export my data. I wrote some code to download all my images from Typepad and then I did a search and replace in BBEdit to change the data in the exported posts to point to images on the new server.
Dead simple.
So why antagonize your clients if it is this easy for them to move?
So now that all that is done I can get back to some gaming.

War Drums
I recently purchased a starter and a few boosters in order to do a review of the latest D&D Miniatures expansion; War Drums. I had a few test games while writing the review to get a grasp of the rules and was moderately impressed with how the game played. Enough that I actually picked up a few more boosters and invited my friend Zach over to play a few games against a "live" opponent.
I'm actually quite impressed by the game. You can check put the review for my general comments but the one thing that I am finding surprising is the actual depth of the gameplay. Not only is there the metagame involved with building your warband but the rules, while very simple, do allow for some very interesting and involving gameplay.
If you haven't checked the game out you may want to see if you can get a demo at your FLGS as it is a fun and quick fantasy skirmish game.

Gaming hiatus
Well its been a few weeks without much of anything to do gaming related.
We had company over the week previous so that took some time to prepare for but I really didn't have an excuse this week. At least I managed to finihs the War Drums review I was writing.
I also finished work on three of the GW plastic Gothic ruins that had been sitting beside my painting table for ages. The downside is that I have gotten much better at painting since I did the last set (three or four years ago) so they don't match very well.
Next week promises to be a Marine painting week as I need to get some minis done for the Builder Campaign. I am sadly behind in my painting duties there.
